Consider how the eyes can express emotion and how that can impact the feeling of your image. Be sure to show a variety of eyes related compositions in your contact sheet of 20 images.
Now, I guess the first thing we think of when we think of eyes are the things we see with, right? But there are many more options when it comes to photography! It doesn’t just have to be your eye, up close, lookin’ all crazy! Let’s make a list…
- Your eyes
- Someone else’s eyes
- The eye of a needle
- The eye of the storm
- Your pet’s eyes!
- Something that looks like an eye?
BIRD'S EYE VIEW
Use HIGH ANGLE or "Bird's Eye View" to capture the subject of your photograph.
As photographers, we often are so focused on our subject that we neglect to think about other ways we can enhance the energy or interest of our images. One easy way to change things up is is to take your pictures from different points of view. In this assignment, I want you to explore your subject from a HIGH ANGLE to see if you can improve your work.
WORM'S EYE VIEW
Use a LOW ANGLE or "Worm's Eye View" to capture the subject of your photograph.
What does your subject look like from a LOW ANGLE or EXTREME LOW ANGLE? Changing your point of view is a great way to add interest and excitement to your work. Low angle shots give us a different view on the world. Most of our photographs are taken above ground level or at eye level. This LOW, forced perspective brings a boring, everyday scene into new light when done right.
ANIMAL / PET
In this photoshoot, investigate your surroundings to find furry friends - or friends with scales, feathers, ect. This can turn into a pet photoshoot or a squirrel scavenger hunt. No pets? No problem! Time to be creative. What animal-like creatures can you find? Be sure to show a variety of animal themed compositions in your contact sheet of 20 images.
HANDS
For this photoshoot, consider various hand positions. Consider how hands interact with objects. What does it mean to work with your hands? Consider how hands can convey emotion. How do we speak with our hands? Be sure to cover a variety of hands related compositions in your contact sheet of 20 images.
WINTER
For this photoshoot, consider what feels like winter to you. Consider our brainstorming for the fall photoshoot help you with your winter photoshoot. Consider winter colors, winter traditions, winter nature elements, winter activities - whatever falls into the winter category, photograph this in an interesting way. Be sure to show variety in your contact sheet of 20 images.
LOOKING THROUGH
Use LOOKING THROUGH as the subject of your ART. Use LOOKING THROUGH as the subject of your ART.
What does the phrase "LOOKING THROUGH" mean to you when talking about photography? Be creative when exploring the subject of this assignment. I want you to search for LOOKING THROUGH moments or situations, or create, interesting "LOOKING THROUGH" images to use as the main focus of your photographs.
HOLIDAY
For this photoshoot use the techniques from quarter 1 in order to express the HOLIDAY SEASON (rule of thirds - perspective - depth of field - shutter speed). You might start by creating a list of things that feel like the HOLIDAY SEASON to you. You could use the alphabet strategy - where you think of something HOLIDAY related for every letter of the alphabet if that helps. Be sure to show a variety of fall related compositions in your contact sheet of 20 images.
